    • Glass Upgrade for DG/HSI and Attitude Instruments in GA Aircraft

      • Replaces traditional electromechanical instruments; can be configured in attitude, DG/HI/HSI and turn coordinator positions
      • Bright, sunlight-readable 3.5” LCD color display, sized to fit standard 3-1/8” instrument cutout
      • Certified via approved model list (AML) for STC’d installation on more than 560 aircraft makes and models
      • Includes a 4-hour backup battery with battery status indicator
      • Dual G5 installation offers reversionary display capability plus the added redundancy of dual ADAHRS and dual backup batteries

The G5 electronic flight instrument delivers exceptional performance, reliability and ease of installation as a drop-in replacement for primary attitude and/or directional gyros in type-certificated fixed-wing aircraft. For select aircraft equipped with G500 or G500 TXi, G5 can also be used as a standby flight instrument to those systems. Providing an economical upgrade path via a comprehensive AML, the compact and cost-effective G5 is bringing modern “glass cockpit” reference to thousands of aircraft that would otherwise depend on older, vacuum-driven equipment.

      At a Glance

      Affordable Glass Solution

Designed for installation in FAR Part 23 Class 1 and Class 2 aircraft (singles and twins weighing less than 6,000 lbs), the 3.5” G5 display fits into a standard 3-1/8” round cutout, taking up just a fraction of the space and weight previously required by conventional gyro-based instruments. It’s valid for flight under VFR and IFR conditions. And, by combining visual cues and data readouts once scattered across a myriad of instruments, G5 makes flight information easier to scan — so pilots can respond more quickly and intuitively to any in-flight situation.

      Rock-solid Attitude Reference

When configured as an attitude indicator, G5 uses solid-state AHRS reference to provide smooth, steady and reliable horizon-based pitch and roll indications. In addition to aircraft attitude, G5 will also support display of airspeed, altitude, vertical speed, slip/skid, turn rate, configurable V-speed references, barometric setting and selected altitude — as well as visual alerts upon arriving at a preselected altitude. A built-in GPS receiver provides highly accurate groundspeed and ground track readouts. Plus, a dedicated rotary knob on the unit allows for easy adjustments to altitude bugs and barometric pressure settings.

Gain a Clearer Sense of Direction

To provide even more situational awareness, G5 is also approved for installation as a replacement heading indicator/directional gyro (HI or DG) or horizontal situation indicator (HSI) in your panel. When paired with an affordable GMU 11 magnetometer, GAD™ 29 navigation data interface and select VHF NAV/COMMs or GPS navigators, G5 can serve as your primary reference source for magnetic heading, VOR/LOC guidance and/or GPS course guidance — as well as providing distance and groundspeed indications. The unit displays both vertical and lateral GPS/VOR/LOC course deviation when available. And you can use the G5 instrument’s rotary knob to easily make and adjust course selections — or to control heading bug settings in DG installations. For added system integration, a single magnetometer can supply heading information to two G5 units simultaneously. Additionally, G5 can provide heading output to select third-party autopilots (with GAD 29B).

      Experience an Innovative Autopilot System

Reduce workload and fly with more confidence by pairing G5 with our GFC™ 500 digital autopilot1 (sold separately). GFC 500 offers silky-smooth flight control and advanced, safety-enhancing capabilities at a cost-effective price never before available on certified aftermarket solutions for light, fixed-wing aircraft.

Based on our revolutionary GFC 700 installed in thousands of new aircraft, GFC 500 offers Garmin ESP™ corrective technology, overspeed and underspeed protection, and a dedicated LVL button. Plus, it provides the ability to fly coupled GPS and IFR approaches with compatible Garmin navigators and NAV/COMMs as well as an optional go-around switch and automatic and manual electric trim.

As part of the GFC 500 system, G5 provides input and display of attitude preselect, heading bug, vertical speed bug, airspeed target and flight director command bars, while a dedicated GMC 507 autopilot controller provides large dedicated keys, knobs and control wheel for mode, altitude, heading and vertical speed selection.

Plus, in emergency engine power loss situations, pairing G5 with your GTN™ Xi navigator can enable Smart Glide™ functionality2. When activated, Smart Glide finds and creates a Direct-to route to an airport estimated to be within glide range — or alerts you if no airport is estimated to be within glide range. When paired with your compatible Garmin autopilot (sold separately), Smart Glide automatically activates the autopilot’s IAS mode at best glide speed — using the GPS guidance to fly the aircraft near the selected airport — so you can resume control and land the aircraft.

      Dual Displays Double Your Options

By installing dual G5 displays in your panel, you not only gain dedicated instruments for attitude reference and directional gyro/HSI guidance, but you also gain the advantages of backup redundancy with dual ADAHRS and reversionary display capability. In such installations, a secondary G5 can revert to display attitude information (consolidated with heading indication) in the unlikely event of a failure in the primary attitude indicator position. For added “get home” protection, each G5 display is available with a backup lithium-ion battery, which can provide up to 4 hours of emergency operation in case of an aircraft electrical outage or shutdown.

      Learn More About G5

  • Digital 3-axis Magnetometer Heading Sensor

    • Small, lightweight, cost-effective source of magnetic heading reference
    • Provides accurate 3-axis sensing of the Earth’s magnetic field for use by Air Data, Attitude Heading Reference System (ADAHRS) to determine aircraft heading
    • Integrates with G3X™, G3X Touch™ and G5 series electronic flight displays
    • Usable for both experimental and certificated aircraft installations with the G5 electronic instrument serving as DG/HSI and/or attitude indicator
    • Installs easily; mountable in 4 cardinal compass directions

GMU 11 is an affordable, microprocessor-based magnetometer. It can be used to accurately sense the Earth’s magnetic field alignment and provide this data to compatible ADAHRS processors for use in referencing aircraft magnetic heading. In essence, the magnetometer acts as an electronic compass, showing the ADAHRS which direction the aircraft is facing in relation to magnetic north.

Unlike conventional flux valve systems, which detect only the horizontal component of the Earth’s magnetic field, the GMU 11 magnetometer provides full 3-axis vector measurements for the most precise digital indication of magnetic field strength and direction.

ADAHRS components used on our popular G3X, G3X Touch and G5 electronic cockpit displays can use comparative inputs from GPS, magnetometer and air data computer information to achieve new levels of integrity, reliability and precision in digital flight reference.

What’s more, because it’s an all solid-state design, GMU 11 offers low power consumption as well as easy installation and calibration. On most aircraft, GMU 11 is mounted in a separate remote location from the ADAHRS and other electronics — typically outboard in the wing, tail section or vertical stabilizer — to minimize any external magnetic interference.

      Reduce Your Workload

In addition to traditional Nav/Comm features, the GNC 255 incorporates a number of functions that can save you time and effort. Provide the GNC 255 with an airport or navaid identifier and it will automatically find all available frequencies (and vice versa) thanks to a built-in, updateable database. With a compatible GPS input, the device will find the nearest airport to your location and easily access its weather, center and FSS frequencies. You'll have the confidence to know you're talking to the right controller every time. The Nav/Comm's database technology also allows you to quickly pull up your most frequently or most recently used frequencies. The device even automatically decodes a station’s Morse code to provide a positive identification – no aural decoding required.

The GNC 255 will provide distance, time and speed when installed with a compatible GPS source like our GTN or GNS series avionics. All information is displayed on a bright sunlight-readable display so you can quickly read it all at a glance. And when paired with a G500, G500H, G600 or G3X flight display, it allows for the display of VOR and ILS indications on the PFD and can follow autopilot commands. Alternatively, you can use an HSI or CDI like our MD200-306, which has been specifically designed to work with the GNC 255.

Listen to 2 Frequencies with 1 Comm

With the standby frequency-monitoring feature in the GNC 255, you won’t have to worry about missing an ATC call or other critical transmission. The GNC 255 allows you to listen to ATIS without leaving your assigned ATC channel. Swapping your active and standby frequencies is done with a single touch of a button. Pressing and holding frequency transfer key will automatically set the emergency frequency as your active radio. You can use the built-in timer to assist with approaches, holds and other assigned maneuvers.

      Need night vision?

For pilots flying patrol aircraft or helicopters while using night vision goggles (NVGs) to aid visual surveillance, the GNC 255 series NAV/COMM radios are available in versions that offer NVG-compatible displays. Garmin Connext WebsiteAs a result, you’re able to use your mobile device’s touchscreen as a true cockpit interface – capable of transferring flight plans, streaming high quality GPS and AHRS attitude information to reveal rich 3-D synthetic vision display, graphically depicting subscription-free weather and traffic with our patent-pending TargetTrend™ traffic and TerminalTraffic™ display, controlling your SiriusXM system’s audio entertainment channels and much more¹.

It's All About Simplifying Your Flying

With the wireless mobility supported by your Flight Stream 210, you’ll enjoy more freedom and flexibility in everything from preflight preparations to inflight cockpit management. For example, instead of sitting in a too hot or too cold aircraft to manually enter all flight plan and waypoint information into your GTN or GNS prior to takeoff, simply use the flight plan that you’ve already created and filed during your pre-flight planning using Garmin Pilot – whenever and wherever it’s convenient – and then wirelessly upload it all to your avionics within moments of arriving at the flight line. You save time. You stay comfortable. And you get airborne more quickly, thanks to the upload-and-go convenience of your Flight Stream wireless link.

Connext Phone Control and Text Messaging via Mobile Devices

Flight Stream 210 can pair an Apple mobile device operating Garmin Pilot to the GTN to access text and voice services enabled by a GSR 56 datalink¹. While in-flight or on the ground, pilots can quickly send and receive messages using Garmin Pilot on an Apple mobile device, which utilizes a familiar conversation format with the device’s existing contact database. Similarly, customers can initiate phone calls on a compatible Apple® mobile device when connected to the Connext network, so it’s easier to complete phone calls over a headset while in flight. The GSR 56 also supports the display of Connext weather on compatible avionics.

      Wireless Syncing, Brilliant Thinking

Once you’re off and flying, the Flight Stream 110/210 lets you use your portable device to wirelessly access information from your avionics. So, you can enhance your mobile product's map and flight displays with graphical weather, traffic, GPS position reference, AHRS for backup attitude and 3-D synthetic vision displays – using all of the avionics you’ve already invested in and reducing clutter from individual portable solutions¹. What’s more with the Flight Stream 210, keeping flight plans in sync between your tablet and your avionics is a cinch: Enter the waypoints, airways or airports on one device, and with a tap or two, your entries are automatically transferred to the other. So, there’s no duplication of effort on your part when it comes to keeping everything in sync.

Get the Most from Your Avionics

When pairing a GNS 430W/530W series navigator and either a GDL 88 ADS-B datalink or GDL 69 SiriusXM datalink — adding a Flight Stream is an easy way to see all of the weather benefits on a higher resolution display which can include: animated NEXRAD imagery, METARs, TAFs, winds and temperatures aloft, PIREPs, NOTAMs and much more. Even better, use the GDL 88 ADS-B datalink to meet U.S. ADS-B equipage requirements for Dec. 31, 2019 and pair it with a Flight Stream to receive all of the ADS-B traffic and weather benefits right on your mobile device.

      Take Action Against Distractions

On a Sirius note, if your aircraft also has a GDL 69/A SiriusXM datalink on its equipment list, you can use the Flight Stream 110/210’s Bluetooth connectivity to let your iPad or a passenger’s iPhone® double as a wireless remote for your SiriusXM satellite audio system. That way, you can access more of the safety-enhancing information you really want to see in the cockpit — while utilizing the same technology to minimize distracting interruptions from your channel-surfing audiophiles in the passenger seats.

That’s the beauty of wireless workload reduction — made possible by the Garmin Flight Stream 110/210.

      • Easy replacement for your existing transponder, with common 1.65-inch tall form factor

      At a Glance

Meeting ADS-B equipage rules for NextGen airspace just got easier — and more beneficial — for thousands of aircraft owners worldwide.

With the introduction of the GTX 345 series of Mode S Extended Squitter (ES) transponders, Garmin provides a one-box, one-swap solution that enables owners and operators to meet ADS-B requirements with minimal expense, downtime and disruption to their panels — while providing all the weather and traffic benefits of ADS-B “In.”

Your Transition to NextGen Made Simple

The IFR-certified GTX 345 looks and operates like a standard Mode S transponder. It fits in the same 1.65-inch high slot in your avionics stack. It boasts a bright, sunlight-readable digital display, a pressure altitude readout, handy timers for approaches and other operations, plus dedicated pushbuttons numbered 0-9 for quick and easy squawk code entry. But where other transponders leave off, the GTX 345 is just getting started. The addition of 1090 MHz ADS-B “Out” transmission capability (using precise GPS-referenced positioning information) enables the transponder to automatically output the more accurate, more dynamic traffic surveillance data that the NextGen airspace system requires. For aircraft that may prefer or require a diversity solution, GTX 345 is available in a diversity configuration which utilizes two antennas — mounted on the top and bottom of the aircraft — to provide superior operational coverage. Plus, available ADS-B “In” reception unlocks even more capabilities for pilots, enabling them to display ADS-B traffic, weather and more on a variety of installed or portable displays.

      Your WAAS, Your Way

The extra-precise GPS position reference needed to meet the traffic monitoring requirements of ADS-B can be provided either by the WAAS/SBAS-compliant navigation system that you may already have in your panel — or by an optional built-in GPS position source available with your GTX 345 transponder³. However your aircraft is currently equipped, the Garmin GTX 345 series offers a simple, minimally intrusive ADS-B solution to meet your needs. For even more flexibility, optional remote mount GTX versions are available for compatibility with the GTN™ 750/650 series of GPS/Comm/Nav systems, as well as select Garmin G1000® integrated flight deck systems — all of which provide built-in remote transponder code selection and control.

See the Benefits of ADS-B “In”

In addition to 1090 MHz ADS-B “Out”, the GTX 345 also makes available the subscription-free weather and traffic display capabilities enabled by ADS-B “In” — which can be interfaced with compatible cockpit displays or streamed wirelessly via Connext to our aera 796/795 and aera 660 series portables, as well as to tablets/mobile devices by way of the Garmin Pilot™, ForeFlight Mobile or FltPlan Go apps. The ADS-B weather link is continuously broadcast on the 978 MHz Universal Access Transceiver (UAT) frequency, and is similar to the basic services offered by leading commercial satellite weather providers. For example, you can access NEXRAD imagery, METARs, TAFs, winds and temperatures aloft, PIREPs, NOTAMs, and more1: Along with this, you can also receive ADS-B traffic position reports (and threat-level symbology) to help you see-and-avoid converging targets in busy airspace. Spoken audio alerts call out potential flight path conflicts (“Traffic, 10 O’Clock, same altitude, two miles”) to get you looking in the right direction. Meanwhile, on your display, Garmin’s patented TargetTrend™ relative motion display¹ offers a faster, more intuitive way of judging target trajectories and closure rates in relation to your flight path. As an added safety feature, available on most new Garmin products, our TerminalTraffic™ technology provides a comprehensive picture of ADS-B equipped aircraft and ground vehicles in the airport environment. ADS-B equipped aircraft in flight are easily distinguished from ground vehicles and taxiing aircraft, which are displayed using distinct colors and symbols. All of this information is presented on a simple, easy-to-understand SafeTaxi® diagram which references the location of runways, taxiways, hangar locations and more.

      Dual-link Completes the Picture

The GTX 345 ADS-B receiver is a dual-link system. So, it can receive on both frequencies (978 MHz and 1090 MHz) authorized for ADS-B operations in the U.S. Not only does this provide the most complete traffic picture from aircraft transmitting on either frequency, but it also enhances your aircraft’s ability to access ADS-B transmissions and services from virtually anywhere. When integrating an active traffic system with the GTX 345, ADS-B traffic and active traffic targets are merged on the display to give pilots a truly comprehensive traffic picture.

ADS-B for Your Integrated Flight Deck

ADS-B for Your Integrated Flight Deck

With a variety of compatibilities covering most fielded displays, our ADS-B enabled GTX series transponders offer the easiest NextGen upgrade path available from Garmin — especially for owners of select G1000-equipped aircraft. For these systems, a remote mount version, the GTX 345R, interfaces with either the aircraft’s existing WAAS position source for navigation or uses an optional built-in WAAS position source to meet ADS-B “Out” requirements. The G1000 series displays interface with the remote GTX transponder to provide onscreen squawk code entry and control in the conventional manner. Depending on the software version installed, your Garmin glass displays can also support subscription-free weather on the MFD — as well as ADS-B traffic targets on both the MFD and PFD displays for aircraft equipped with Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT™).

Alerting and Altitude Encoding Made Simple

Alerting and Altitude Encoding Made Simple

For added situational awareness, the GTX 345 incorporates a built-in audio output for audible traffic and altitude alerts¹, which can be integrated into your existing audio panel. You can also pair the GTX series with an optional Garmin altitude encoder to satisfy data transmission requirements for IFR. As opposed to other transponders with altitude encoding built in, the Garmin altitude encoder mounts separately on the install rack. So, should the transponder ever require removal, there’s no need for the static line to be disconnected. Which, in turn, eliminates the need for a follow-on leak check — and thus helps minimize ongoing service costs.

      An easier path to NextGen

The Garmin GTX 345 series is FAA and EASA approved for installation on hundreds of today’s most popular aircraft makes and models. For decades, Garmin has led in the development and deployment of ADS-B technology. And when you compare all the options available, it’s clear that Garmin is committed to making your transition to ADS-B operations as simple, economical and worry-free as possible.

¹Garmin ADS-B compatibilities cover a wide range of systems and displays; however, not all functions may be available for every configuration. Please check the Compatibility tab for more specifics or limitations that may apply to your system.

²AHRS may be disabled in rotorcraft installations, see your authorized Garmin dealer for more details.

The large, sunlight-readable 7” touchscreen display is twice as bright as many tablets, with portrait and landscape display options and intuitive pinch to zoom and panning.

      DYNAMIC MAPS

Quickly and reliably acquire GPS and GLONASS satellite constellations to display rich, interactive, dynamically drawn and customizable aviation maps.

      FLIGHT PLANS

Creating flight plans is easy. Enter a starting waypoint and destination, then insert segments — including airways, as well as IFR departures, arrivals and approaches.

Advanced navigation. In a portable package.

      DIRECT-TO NAVIGATION

A Direct-to key on the screen lets you quickly enter a direct course for any selected waypoint. A menu of nearest airports and flight plan waypoints makes for easy entry.

      MAP TOPOGRAPHY

View ground references — including airports, cities, terrain, obstacles and more — on the dynamic map display to easily determine your position on VFR flights.

      VFR SECTIONAL CHARTS

View georeferenced VFR sectional charts for the U.S., Canada and Europe.

      IFR ENROUTE CHARTS

Use IFR map mode to display and navigate on high or low enroute airways. Touch to view Minimum Enroute Altitudes and distances between intersections.

      COCKPIT INTEGRATION

Interface aera 760 with the GFC 500X autopilot or GFC™ 500 digital autopilot for coupled lateral and VFR vertical guidance, and upload or download flight plans wirelessly to select navigators.

Enhanced traffic and weather. In the palm of your hand.

      ADS-B DATALINKS

With available Garmin ADS-B “In” equipage solutions, aera 760 displays ADS-B traffic targets as well as subscription-free U.S. weather data — either wirelessly or with an optional power/data cable.

      TARGETTREND™ TRACKING

Patented TargetTrend relative motion tracking on the aera 760 gives pilots a faster, more intuitive way to judge traffic closure rates and trajectories — so you can identify the greatest threat.

      TERMINALTRAFFIC™ DISPLAY

Providing a dynamic display of ADS-B-equipped aircraft and ground vehicles, this technology helps pilots avoid traffic conflicts within the airport environment.

      SIRIUSXM® SERVICE

When paired with an optional GDL® 51 or GDL 52 datalink receiver, aera 760 can incorporate SiriusXM satellite weather coverage — plus audio entertainment features.

Improved awareness. For better decision making.

      SAFETAXI® DATABASE

Upon landing, georeferenced SafeTaxi diagrams on aera 760 automatically help track your location on hundreds of airports and even identify published hot spots.

      SMART AIRSPACE™

Patented Garmin Smart Airspace guidance highlights the airspace nearest your current altitude so you can quickly identify your location relative to the airspace around you.

      3D VISION

3D Vision technology gives you a virtual 3D behind-the-aircraft perspective view of surrounding terrain, obstacles and airports, as well as traffic (when equipped with ADS-B “In”).

      SYNTHETIC VISION

View Synthetic Vision (SVX™) by panel-mounting your aera 760 and using its built-in AHRS, or by connecting it to another device with an AHRS, such as a GDL 52 series datalink.

      TERRAIN ALERTING

See your position above terrain and obstacles on the map and profile view. Obstacles within 1,000 feet (or a pilot-customizable height) are highlighted yellow, while obstacles within 100 feet are highlighted red.

      WIREAWARE™

Garmin WireAware wire-strike avoidance technology graphically overlays Hazardous Obstacle Transmission (HOT) lines that span rivers and canyons right on the moving map.

      STREET INTERSECTIONS

Optional maps allow pilots to enter street intersections and other non-aviation waypoints for easy navigation.
